Don't have time for a full read? Hit play and listen to the blogcast!
Have you watched YouTube videos, joined Facebook groups, or gone on social media to do your remote job search? I’m sure you have because everyone's doing it!
Now don't get me wrong, doing this can be helpful sometimes but this is the worst way to go about it.
Here are 5 main reasons why...
You have to wait and depend on others for remote job leads
This only gives you a limited number of positions to apply to
The positions may not be available in your area
The jobs aren't what you're looking for or don't match your skill set
The jobs become filled before you get the chance to apply
As you can imagine, this can seriously hurt your progress and chances of landing a work from home job. No worries though, there are a few ways you can go about this to make your remote job search easier!
Website Footers
Do you have a company in mind that you want to work for and wonder if they have any remote positions available? You can easily find out by doing a Google search for their web address if needed and heading to their official website. Then here's what you do next...
Let's use Netflix as an example, you would go to their homepage and scroll all the way to the bottom. This area of the website is called the footer. Once there, look for links such as Jobs, Careers, Work With Us or anything along those lines. In this example, you'll find the Jobs link as you see highlighted below.
After clicking the link, you'll be brought to their job page where you can type "remote" into the search or keyword field. Typing work from home might work as well but remote is the most common terminology used in these types of job descriptions.
You'll then be brought to their job listings where you can scroll through and view all of their remote positions.
Additional Tips:
Check Regularly: Companies update their career pages frequently, so make it a habit to check back regularly.
Company Newsletters: Subscribe to company newsletters. They often announce new job openings there.
Social Media: Follow companies on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and similar platforms. They often post job openings there as well.
Job Boards
Popular job boards, like Monster, Career Builder, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Simply Hired, etc are great places to try as well. That's because this is the 1st or 2nd place job recruiters post their available openings.
Plus using keywords like "work from home" or "remote" in the search fields and filter options will point you in the right direction. This will help you avoid getting lost in the sea of brick-and-mortar jobs they have listed.
Additional Tips:
Refine Your Search: Use advanced search filters to narrow down results based on job type, industry, and salary range.
Check Company Ratings: Look at company reviews and ratings to ensure they are legitimate and have a good work environment.
Network: Many job boards have community features. Engage with other job seekers and professionals to learn about hidden opportunities and get tips.
Google Search
In addition to website footers and online job boards, you can use Google to make your remote job search even easier! It allows you to find multiple remote jobs simultaneously, from various sources, all in one location.
And when using Google, it's important to format your search properly in order to pull the most relevant results. This also helps you find fresh/new job openings that match your skillset or desired position.
I show you exactly how to do this in the Work From Home Kickstarter.
Additional Tips:
Add Location: If you prefer remote jobs within a specific time zone or country, add that to your search, example... "remote jobs USA."
Check Related Searches: Google often suggests related searches at the bottom of the results page. These can give you new ideas for search terms.
Explore Aggregator Sites: Google often highlights job aggregator sites that compile listings from multiple sources. Sites like Glassdoor and We Work Remotely are excellent resources.
This in itself can speed up the process and greatly increase your chances of getting hired!
As you can see, these avenues are way more effective because you won’t have to wait or depend on others and you’ll have plenty of work from home jobs to choose from.

And yet another perfect reason to take this route...
The job listings are coming directly from the source which reduces the risk of common scams. That's a relief, isn't it? It's always nerve-wracking to navigate this part of the online world. But with the jobs coming directly from the source, you can breathe a sigh of relief.
It's like having a trusted connection, ensuring that you're on the right path. This lets you focus on showcasing your skills and landing that dream job without worrying about pitfalls along the way. It's a win-win situation!
When you think about it, this approach is like learning how to cook… Stay with me! 😆
Beforehand, you have to either depend on others to prepare your meal, order out, or settle for something less appetizing. And depending on where your food is made, you can’t be certain it’s safe to eat. Now once you learn how to cook, life is good! You can make whatever you want at any given time. Plus the food is always fresh, safe to eat, and seasoned exactly to your liking!
So light up the comments below with a few 🔥 if you’re ready to turn up the heat on your remote job search! And let me know how it goes for you after giving these tips a try.
